Every Disney parent secretly knows: our kids are basically walking chracter mash-ups. They’ve got the energy of sidekicks, the drama of villains, and the heart of heroes — all wrapped up in school uniforms and snack crumbs.
This half-term has felt like living in an animated crossover episode. So here’s my completely unbiased, extremely scientific casting of my three kids, and me and my partner, as our most fitting Disney alter ego mashups:
The 1-Year-Old – Jack-Jack Meets Mowgli
This tiny human is pure unpredictable energy. One minute she’s giggling sweetly and the next, she’s scaling furniture like it’s the jungle. She’s got Jack-Jack’s “I might explode at any moment” vibe, mixed with Mowgli’s wild curiosity and absolutely no concept of danger.
She can somehow find the only crumb on a freshly hoovered floor and eat it. She can also disappear in two seconds flat — only to be found standing on the coffee table like a victorious jungle king.
Notable quote (if she had one): “Fire? Snack? Chaos? I’m in.”
Most likely to: Open every cupboard, climb inside, and sit grinning about it.
The 7-Year-Old – Rapunzel Meets Sharpay Evans Meets Darla from Finding Nemo
Where do I even begin? She’s got Rapunzel’s big heart and creativity, Sharpay’s stage presence (and outfit coordination), and Darla’s… let’s say, intensity. She lives for a glitter moment, performs daily concerts, and can go from Disney princess to dramatic sea monster in 0.4 seconds. Recently had her ears pierced and now fully believes she is royalty. Probably writing a musical about it as we speak.
Notable quote (if she had one): “I’m not being dramatic, I’m being EXPRESSIVE.”
Most likely to: Storm out of the room… and return 30 seconds later because she forgot her crown.
The 10-Year-Old – Flynn Rider Meets Baymax with Belle’s Love of Reading
This boy is all charm, sarcasm, and soft-heartedness, whether he admits it or not. He’s got Flynn Rider’s dry humour, Baymax’s calming presence (“Are you satisfied with your care?” is basically his babysitting vibe), and Belle’s deep, passionate love of books and interesting facts that no one asked for.
He pretends he’s so over it, but he’s the first to help when the youngest cries or when the older sister can’t untangle a necklace. His eye rolls are legendary. So is his empathy.
Notable quote (if he had one): “Technically, this is all very inefficient. But I’ll help anyway.”
Most likely to: Roll his eyes and then help you anyway.
Me – Tinker Bell Meets Dory Meets All the Inside Out Emotions
Let’s be honest: I’m small, sparkly, loyal, occasionally explosive, and I lose track of what I was doing every 8 minutes. One moment I’m Joy, singing along in the kitchen. The next I’m Sadness, curled up with a biscuit. Then Anger makes an appearance during bedtime. But I love deeply, sparkle occasionally, and keep the whole show running (even if I can’t remember where I put the car keys).
Notable quote: “Did I already say that? Wait, what was I doing?”
Most likely to: Say “I’m fine!” while cleaning up spills with tears in my eyes and glitter in my hair.
My Partner – Baloo Meets Olaf Meets The Mad Hatter
Laid-back, funny, warm, and just a little unhinged. He’s all about bare necessities, dad jokes, and randomly bursting into song. He’s got Olaf’s heart, Baloo’s calm vibes, and the Mad Hatter’s tendency to derail a conversation in the most entertaining way possible.
Notable quote: “Everything’s under control… probably.”
Most likely to: Teach the kids a weird fact, dance in the kitchen, then encourage the chaos with a cup of tea in hand.
With three kids and two very tired (but still somewhat sparkly) adults, our house often feels like a mix of theme park, musical, and wild emotional rollercoaster. So I thought — why not cast us all in our rightful Disney roles?
